It's sad how few American Catholics seem to be aware of great Catholic individuals who have made contributions to the "high arts." Such awareness might go far to improving our collective sensitivity for quality liturgy. Francis Poulenc was part of the great French "ressourcement" era anticipating Vatican II, and became one of the great religious composers of the century.
